This is my secondary blog and is designed as an archive of my handmade creations, past and present. I also add dates of fairs I'm attending, where I offer for sale my handmade pieces and also carefully sourced vintage goods. I hope you will enjoy taking a look, Niki x

Je T'aime

Pink, makes the boys wink...So my mother used to tell me...
A little handmade pink bag to grab you some attention!
A rare antique fabric, lined inside with a French toile de jouy, a gathered braid adds a decorative touch, and a vintage French button to fasten.

Another cute little handmade hand bag. This one a patchwork of antique French toile de jouy cottons, lined inside with C19th white linen. An adorable vintage braid trims the top and it fastens with an unusual wooden button and fabric loop. I've added a handmade brooch to the front too.

I've also had fun playing today...Making tatty hearts with a carefree style. They are made from pieces of old maps, antique velvet and lace fragments. I stitched the hearts onto the front of lace-embellished paper pockets...Perfect for storing a few papery treasures or love letters inside.

Making the hearts was a lot of fun, so I went on to add some more to greetings card blanks... Ideal to send to a loved-one with a special heartfelt massage!
I'll be posting on my main blog tomorrow, showing some of the handmade items coming with me to the Original Vintage & Handmade Fashion & Textile Fair on Saturday, at Chipping Sodbury Town Hall. Hope to see you there if you can make it.

Bags and Brushes

A beautiful vintage hand mirror and brush set sent to me by a lovely lady called Sue, has been given a re-vamp (by me :) with some rare C19th French fabric on the backs.
I've also been bag making this week with some new (vintage and antique!) fabrics that I've invested in recently...More to show on my next post.

Are You Sitting Comfortably?...

If not, then perhaps I have just the thing?!
Lots of handmade cushions hot off my sewing machine. This one is made from a vintage hand embroidered panel and a pretty apple blossom floral fabric.

With a squishy feather-filled cushion pad inside.
I LOVE this fabric, but only had enough to make one cushion from it. I have backed it in C19th French linen.
'Grumpy monkey' looks a little disgruntled housed behind bars!...Even with lots of neighbours to talk to!

Then there's this pair of cheerful floral cushions of a dramatic c1950's poppy print.
All have tie fastenings, for ease of laundering on wash day.

These two little black boxes were given vintage labels to make them a little more interesting.
All at the shop this week,

February Makes...

1960's Noddy fabric turned into a pair of nursery cushions.
I've made another Liberty fabric handbag.

And a cute handbag from vintage hand embroidery and French linen.

Liberty Recycled

I've always had a soft spot for Liberty's of London...This week I've been recycling some vintage fabric that would have once been purchased from this wonderful store. I've made two hand bags from this lovely soft cotton. For one, I've included the words printed along the selvedge...
Deco buttons finish them.

I've also been tidying the shop today...

Romance is in the Air...

Valentine's Day isn't far away...
So I've been making hearts filled with dried lavendar.

For this one I used a vintage Liberty fabric, with a French toile feel.

I'm sold, thank you!
