Marvelous Mauves

I found this exquisite panel of hand embroidery recently.

The attention to detail was delicious!

It seems it had been beautifully produced many years ago, but had never been used or framed...

I bravely took the scissors to the excess linen around it and stitched pieces of vintage fabrics to the sides to create a one-of-a-kind shoulder bag.

The addition of a coordinating sparkly brooch completed it.

The bag sold today :)

50's Inspired

A handmade 1950's Barkcloth shoulder bag, lined inside with a satin finish 50's rose print fabric. Two shoulder straps and a vintage wooden button fastens with a fabric loop.

A cute 50's poodle brooch completes it!

Bags and Brooches

After writing this post about the lace jewellery I had been making, I decided to fasten the handmade flower brooches to blank cards to make them into special greetings cards. The brooch can then be removed and worn by the recipient.

A hat pin pillow was another of my new creations this week...

Vintage rose paisley cotton fabric fashioned into a teeny summer dress, trimmed with antique lace at the hem.

A small lace collar fastens with an aurora borealis glass beaded pin.

Her hand crochet lace cotton bloomers hide beneath.
