This is my secondary blog and is designed as an archive of my handmade creations, past and present. I also add dates of fairs I'm attending, where I offer for sale my handmade pieces and also carefully sourced vintage goods. I hope you will enjoy taking a look, Niki x

A Vintage Magpie

A tiny vintage velvet millinery magpie and his bottle of magic glitter powder...
Were carefully placed inside a hand decorated box...
And got posted off to a special lady whom I greatly admire...

As a small gift to congratulate her on her recent book launch.
Photos courtesy of The Magpie and the Wardrobe.
A small tribute to a talented, hard-working woman and her wonderful creations.

Country Blessings

After making a cushion for our living room from an old men's jumper, I thought I'd use up all the offcuts and make some seasonal country style decorations...
These pure wool Fairisle hearts are filled with cinnamon, cloves and star anise for festive fragrance...
And come with a rag ribbon hand stamped message fixed with a vintage button.

They will hang easily from the Christmas tree by their curly wire loop.
There's a little stocking too!

Perfect for those who prefer a natural country look to the usual glitz and sparkle.
The even smaller off-cuts were trimmed into tiny hearts for some one-off greetings cards...
Combined with antique lace and a hand stamped message.

Other pieces made this week include some magic keys for Santa (for those without a chimney on their home!) - Made from antique French keys.

And a little photo collage...
All are stored away ready for the Winter Wonderland Fair next month.

Heartfelt Christmas

I made several scrappy heart decorations yesterday for a lovely friend...
Each made from vintage wool, appliquéd with antique lace and toile fabrics.

They also have antique glass chandelier crystals stitched to the bottom, which twinkle in the sunlight.
They'll be packed in a special box and posted off to her soon.
I love making these little decorations and soon had another collection made, ready for the fairs...

Hung in the holly tree for a photo shoot I think they look quite festive :)
Actually, the ancient holly trees in the garden have produced a few unwanted saplings, so I have potted them up in lovely old clay pots and will take those to the fairs too.
Feels good to have made a start with some seasonal makes.

Settling In...

Been settling in to my new garden studio at the top of the garden overlooking the treetops and finding some time for creating, after a bit of an absence...
Started off simply by packaging some lovely vintage brooches and postcards to create gift ideas for the upcoming Christmas fairs in South Molton...

Then out with the sewing machine and the production line was off to a start...
Two pretty postcard pockets for storing love letters and keepsakes...
Made from vintage textiles and papers...
A variation on a theme, but similar to those made last year.

Now I'm working on some Christmas heart decorations and will show those next time...
Enjoy your day!

Thank You!

Thank you to all who stopped-by my stall at the Vintage Bazaar, Frome yesterday...A fabulous day and wonderful to catch up with friends and vintage lovers...
I sold lots and was overjoyed to see so many of my personal treasures that I have collected over the years, go off with happy new owners...It made it all the more easier to let them go, knowing they will continue to be loved and enjoyed!

Thanks to Lizzie and Clare for organising another great event - My last there, now that we've made the move to Devon...I will miss being a part of such an awesome fair.
I'm going into semi-retirement now(!) and travelling no further afield than South Molton in North Devon! - My next event is the Flea Market in the Pannier Market on November 29th, where I shall take along more treasures that I uncover and dare to part with! ;-))
Have a lovely Sunday,
Niki x
