Retro Fabric Style

Thought I'd use this fabulous turquoise floral retro fabric to create a cushion. I combined it with a 50's red rose design and a Sanderson print...One of my favourite colour combinations.

The back.
It's such a lovely print for summer, I thought it would make a cheerful little hand bag ...
so that's what I made next!
Lovely vintage button to fasten...
and lined inside with a classic Sanderson fabric.

Another wonderful summery textile is this flowery print by Bevis, called 'Bunbury'...
which I used to make a pair of cushions, perfect for a deckchair or garden bench.

I made a shoulder bag too - Ideal for trips to the beach...

And a peg bag to cheer up wash day!
(In my shop as from this Thursday.)

Deck of Cards...

There aren't many activities better for taking your mind off things than a bit of crafting (other than perhaps gardening? - But in this heatwave that takes a lot more effort than normal!)...
So, cutting, stitching and sticking was the therapy I went for!
Yesterday I made 'baby bunting' cards using scraps of rare antique French fabrics.
I made another using images cut from one of my vintage Beatrix Potter books. I have quite a few of these and hasten to add they are all damaged in some way, so I salvage the good bits for use in my card making.
Then I moved onto the challenge of designing some 'new baby' cards.
I combined pages from the books again with lace and fabric scraps, buttons and embroidery silks.
For a baby girl...
And baby boy.
The four cards shown here are all sold - Thank you!

Heart cards are always popular in my shop so today I developed the idea further...
One for a cat lover perhaps?

Then, using my favourite character from the Beatrix Potter books, I made a collection of 5 more cards suitable for many occasions.
Little Mrs. Tiggywinkle is very good at laundry, so I created 'washing lines' of handkerchiefs made from scraps of antique fabrics.

All are blank inside for the sender to write their own special message.

Its always nice to know someone cares and is thinking of you...
This image was sent to me by my friend Maggie...
I must admit I've been feeling a lot like Mrs.Bunny in the illustration...
I've been letting things get to me and my youngest daughter noticed and arrived home from work with these beautiful roses for me...

Knowing someone cares really does make all the difference.
:)
Have a lovely weekend,
